WNY Migraine and Headache Disorder Support Group First Meeting
The National Headache Foundation and I are pleased to announce the first meeting of the Western New York Migraine and Headache Disorder Support Group. The meeting will be held on Tuesday April 19, 2011, at 7:00 pm at 6095 Transit Road, All Care for Women, in East Amherst, New York 14051.
Migraine, a neurological genetic disease thought to be caused by overactive neurons and genetics, affects 37 million Americans and is the 12th most disabling disorder in the United States. Headache disorders are some of the most prevailing neurological conditions affecting more than 90% of Americans. Migraine for some, are episodic (occurring occasionally) but for others they may become a chronic condition. Living with daily Migraine and/or head pain is exhausting, debilitating and overwhelming. It not only affects the patient, but their loved ones, family members and friends too.
Although there is plenty of wonderful online support, another valuable tool is a community support group. These support groups are cathartic in that they allow people to share similar experiences and coping skills in a compassionate setting, supply group members with up to date information and education on Migraine disease and headache disorders in addition to hearing from guest speakers.
We hope to see you on April 19, 2011 at 7:00pm. If you have more questions, check out WNY Migraine and Headache Support Group.
Thanks for reading and feel well,
