Day 19 #HAWMC Writer's Choice Migraine Support

Today's challenge, luckily for me, is to write about anything we want. The official title is Health Activist Choice Day 2. Day 9 was the first day of choice, but today I am hitting the jackpot!
And here's why -
Tonight, Tuesday April 19, 2011 is the first meeting of the Western New York Migraine and Headache Disorder Support Group. Why don't you Join us at 6095 Transit Road in East Amherst, New York, 14051 - All Care for Women and yes, men are of course welcome!
I am very excited to start this group on one hand, but a bit nervous on the other hand hoping it won't take a toll on my health. Therefore, I will have to be diligent about self care....I've discussed this before.
We all know people need support, we see and hear it everyday. Lots of us also know there is a stigma attached to Migraine disease and headache disorders that really needs to be addressed - by patients as well as the rest of the population.
The wealth of online support is fabulous; but for some they need more. The validation we get when meeting with a group of people who experience similar issues in a safe, comfortable, compassionate environment cannot be matched. When you actually meet someone face to face with Migraines and/or headache disorders, realizing that you aren't alone, can make a world of difference.
The Western New York Migraine and Headache Disorder Support Group will give accurate information, education and support to patients, their loved ones, friends and family members. Empowering patients to be proactive in their healthcare plays a vital role in their overall health. Migraine disease and headache disorders can be very complicated, having all the support one can give and get can't be a bad thing, can it?
Thanks for reading and feel well,
